ELECTION DAY!

And today’s post has almost NOTHING to do with ELECTIONS!
Daddy has today off, so we began our day with a fast breakfast and off to the polls.
Beau expressed great concern over whether or not homeschooling would be legal tomorrow morning. God bless him.
Then we headed to church to serve coffee and snacks FOR FREE to the people whose districts are there. Imagine that! No fundraiser! Just a ministry. ☺ The boys thought that was somewhat boring… until they realized it counted as their history for the day! ☺ They did like talking with the adults who poured out attention on them.

After lunch Daddy gave us all a hayride before tossing out the hay left over from Friday’s party.

Yes. We ARE 315ers!

Then back inside to finish our schoolwork.
The kids [and the cat!] enjoyed coloring the planets.
We made them to scale [relative to one another].
Did you know that Jupiter and the Sun are about the same size!?
If I am wrong… please email me!

By the time we wake up in the morning we will most likely have the first black President-elect of the United States of America. I read a few editorials today by people who are transfixed by this. I really am not all that surprised. I guess growing up in NY and not being black myself, it seems completely expected. I don’t regard color that way at all. And Beau hasn’t mentioned it himself, either. But I suppose it is rather remarkable to those people who lived through the Civil Rights years or to men and women who feel the effects of racism even today. I do wish it weren’t THIS man, however. But… God allowed Pharoh, Ahab, Nebudchanezzer, Mussolini and even Hitler to reign in their times. The US cannot expect to be never have bad leaders. Now… the fact isn’t lost on me that this country is a DEMOCRACY… so that makes it somewhat DIFFERENT! But… at least we have term limits! 😉

And yes, Beau. Homeschooling will still be legal tomorrow morning.

And we will go to the polls again in 4 years.

PRAISE PARTY… 2008

But you are a chosen people, a royal preisthood,
a holy nation, a people belonging to God,
that you may declare the praises of Him
who called you out of darkness into His wonderful light.
1 Peter 2:9

As an alternative to the secular tradition of trick or treating, we welcomed 40 friends into our yard for the second annual Praise Party. This notion was conceived last year with our friends the Ks and the Hs. Our three families came together around the fire pit last 10/31. We enjoyed an evening of praise and worship to our King. It was such a wonderful night, we prayed about inviting more friends for 2008.

And God sent them!

The Bs, Ks and Hs were so honored to have an evening of worship with 8 other like-minded families. We enjoyed food, fellowship, prayer and praise. It was an evening dedicated to the Light of our LORD. What an honor to worship freely with our friends and show our kids a good, safe, fun night. The Ks have a projection system that we were able to project kid-style praise and worship DVDs. We had some fun games, a hayride, a candy hunt and open prayer.
