Seabreeze fun is winding down.

These Disciples are saddened to report that we had our second-to-last-day of our summer passes. We went for visit number 14 today. Beau asked if he could take photos during the athletes show and I said sure. I was impressed with some of his shots!
After the show the kids had cards for the performers. They were so sad to find out that Lisa had already left. 😦 We had a few photos to give them, and the kids had LOTS of hugs. They were also happy to meet two new performers.

We headed over to the waterpark, which was just about empty!
We had a blast “chilling out.” Emphasis on “chilling…!”
I think it was about 75 degrees.

The boys hit all the waterslides. There wasn’t a line anywhere!

Although I had planned to leave earlier, a conversation with the performers convinced me to stay for the 7PM show.
It was the last show for Nicolas and the last time we would see J.-F.
Some kids are all about Power Rangers or Hannah Montana… my kids are all about Cirque En Vol.

Nicolas and Mathieu had a surprise for my kids when we got there.
They had made my kids two sets of juggling balls.

They got a little lesson, too.

Poor Beau gets so shy. He talks about the athletes non-stop at home, but doesn’t seem comfortable talking to them at all. Champ and Skeezix are much chattier.

The kids asked me to take a few photos of the, “new tricks.”
*sigh* I only know the tricks are new AFTER they are done, kids!!
There isn’t a “New trick” beacon that flashes just before one is performed!

The kids were over the top that J.-F. sat with them for both shows.
[It was his day off.]

J.-F. bravely attempting to teach Skeezix to juggle!

Beau's Best Birthday Ever! [with lots of photos]

On Beau’s birthday last year, at the end of the evening, he turned to me and said, “This was the best birthday ever.” Click there for the recap.

As we were leaving Seabreeze last night, Beau turned to me and claimed, “Today was my best birthday, ever!!” I am glad they are only getting better.

We started the day pretty plainly. We didn’t have a fancy breakfast like last year, or go to a VeggieTales movie, like last year, or go out to lunch, like last year. But we did have fun.

Nanny and Daddy took half days and we had a fast lunch at home, and opened gifts.

Nanny got Beau some awesome rollerblades.
Mama and Daddy got him some Bibleman gear.
We told Champ to, “Hold his tongue,” and he did.

An Ipod shuffle [we aquired by the grace of Mr. & Mrs. Skoorbs.]

A Narnia shirt and a goofy face!

We then headed to Seabreeze with Nanny and Daddy, too.

Champ really enjoys The Screaming Eagle ride. No one else does.
Beau turned down Champ’s request to ride with him. I knew Nanny and Daddy never, ever could. So I offered. I really didn’t want to. I’ve never been on it and I never wanted to try it. Champ said to me, “Why are you going on this, Mama?” I said, “Why do you think?” He said, “Because you love me?” 😉 Bingo. 🙂
He looks a little concerned about me.
We sat across from each other.
Me, seriously questioning my sanity.

Thanking God it is over.
Sigh… my dad would have done it for me.
Of course we took in the 4PM show of Cirque En Vol.
Beau asked if he could take photos. I said, “Sure.”
He got some good ones.
I had an inkling the acrobats might be planning to wish Beau a, “Happy Birthday,” when Nicolas confirmed his name before the show. I had the video camera ready. If you drag the cursor to a little more than half way, you will get to the birthday wish.

Nan took the kids on the puke-ride, a/k/a the Teacups.
We ordered pizza and wings for dinner, and Nene joined us.
She took them on a few wild rides.
Beau tried a few tricks of his own on the canopy.

Angel did, too!

After the 7PM Cirque En Vol show, the kids went up to speak with the athletes, as they always do. Daddy started asking some questions about the tools they use, and they offered the kids the chance to try them out, and offered advice.

Champ ran over to me and asked, “Can we ask the tumblers to have some of Stewart’s birthday cake with us?” Of course I said, “Yes.”

Champ and Skeezix posing with J.-F.
J.-F. was the only returning athlete from last year.
While waiting for cake, Champ tried a few tricks of his own.

We sang Happy Birthday to Beau.
We had to go find someone in the smoking
section for a light for the candle!!

Four of the athletes joined us for cake. It was Lisa’s day off.
[We sent a piece back to the dorm for her.]

I don’t know how to describe how much fun it was for the kids.
JB and I enjoyed getting to know them a little more, as our kids talk about them all the time and ask questions about them. They hung out with the kids about a half-an-hour. They were very gracious and kind to the kids.

Nicolas offered Beau a chance to try a trick. Philippe spotted.

Champ is a natural.

Skeezix’s turn.

Angel finally decided she would try it, too.

A pose with the performers, Philippe, Mathieu, Nicolas and Jean-Francois.

No wonder it was such a great birthday, huh?

My Little Athletes!?

If you read my blog last summer, then you know how much my kids loved Cirque En Vol, at Seabreeze last summer. The team of athletes were so friendly and kind to my kids last year, and they talked about them all winter long. We looked forward to another season of Seabreeze and I wondered if they’d enjoy the show as much this year, and if the athletes would be as nice to my kids. Click here to enjoy some of the crazy pictures and posts from last summer.
Well, Mama didn’t have to worry. This year’s cast of Cirque En Vol have been every bit as entertaining and are possibly even kinder and friendlier thank last year’s crew.
Check out what my kids were invited to do with the crew of athletes on Monday!!

Here are some photos of our friends in their show. I hope you can appreciate why the kids enjoy watching soooooo much.

Visiting Ba and Poppy at Black Lake

Mommy had her ACLS class Wednesday, so JB headed to Black Lake with the kids to see his parents at their cottage. He packed enough food and games for a week, despite their up-and-back-trip.

Ba had the pool out for some swimming.
Black Lake is not really a swimming lake.
At least not where they are located.

Posing with Poppy.

A boat ride!!

When they started their ride, Skeezix started shouting, “Faster Daddy! Faster. Why aren’t we going faster?!!” Daddy answered, “Because I am rowing.” He had to get them out of the weeds before he could get the motor going.

For a ride in Poppy’s boat.

The girls playing checkers with Ba.

Mid-day break with VeggieTales.

Fishing buddies.

Look at what Champ caught.

Beau got one, too.
I won’t tease JB about how difficult it is to see the fish with the way Beau is standing.
I am just beyond thrilled he took the camera AND USED IT a lot!!

Even Skeezix got one.
Yes, Daddy let her have a hook.
Brave man!!

If a tree falls and the video camera is off, does it still make a noise?

We needed to take a tree down. The tree itself was in rough shape.
It has two tops and some dead spots.
It also happens to be where we want to put a pool.

Beau went out to help Daddy.

He asked if he could use the chainsaw

when he was, “You know, like eleven?”

Mmmm… maybe not.

Daddy got on his hard hat. Isn’t it cool? Not too Bob-the-Builder-y.

More like Garth Brooks with power tools.

After sitting poised for almost an hour with a dying video camera battery and the camera, the tree came down whist I was unprepared. Seriously. One minute prior, JB was hanging onto a branch, swinging, trying to see if it would give. Then he shrugged. Made a simple cut and down it came.

“Now look at the mess I made,” said JB.

To be continued…

Birthday Time Again!

These Disciples know how to do summer birthdays.
We celebrated the older three kids’ birthdays with our family Sunday.
Even though the rain had ended, it was humid out and the ground was saturated.
We moved the party inside. It turned out okay. The kids enjoyed seeing people.
