Scenes from H1N1

It all started on Monday.
A low-grade temp for Beau in the morning, that morphed into 103.8 by dinner.
Urgent Care.
Tamiflu.
Before the sun set on Tuesday, we had two more coughing – Champ and Skeezix.
Wednesday morning found Mama with a headache, too.
With three poor nights’ sleeps under her belt, she thought to call Daddy to see if he could take a half-day.
Good thing.
By 12:45PM Mama was in the trenches, too.

Calls back and forth to doctors’ offices.
By 4:30PM Wednesday, Angel had it too.

Here, on Saturday, I can’t claim it is over, either.

But, we did remember to pick up the camera from time to time.
If we are part of a historical pandemic… we want to have photos, right?

Starting Wednesday, Dad took the mattress off the trundle bed in Skeezix’ room and camped out in the toy room.

Mom slept with Angel Wednesday night, because she has the best mattress in the house, and the muscle pains Mom was dealing with warranted using every trick we had to combat the excruciating pain.

This was a common sight. Also very common was noticing she was no where around, and finding her in Mommy and Daddy’s bed, sound asleep!

Keeping track of all the meds for the five of us wasn’t easy. It took us about 5 hours before we realized we needed a system.
Champ lost a tooth on Thursday. It gave us something to smile and cheer about.
Medication central.
Have you ever seen so many spoons in use? 😛

Champ moved from couch to couch as the fevers hit. As they let up, he’d run and play for a while.

Angel became a pro at taking her temperature.

Happy Heart – Sick Eyes.

No photos of Beau, who recovered by the time we thought to get out the camera.
When I get a chance, I will type out some of the funny things that the kids said during our quarantine.

Nan's birthday

Nan took the day off work to celebrate her birthday. The plan was to hit the zoo early.
Sadly, Mom was tired and slow moving and Beau woke with a fever and a wheeze.
After some meds and a nebulizer treatment, we finally got Nan and off to the zoo we went.
The animals were rather active, due to the cool weather. It was just about 60 degrees and sunny.

We watched the seals bicker over the “good” spot for sunbathing.

Why won’t 4 kids look at the camera at the same time????
I tried 10 times!
😛

We had lunch at Pizza Hut.
Nene met us there, too!

Who knew Beau was cooking up H1N1?

Happy Birthday, Nan.

St. Nicholas

We got the new VeggieTales movie,

“St. Nicholas: A Story of Joyful Giving.”

Beau took it upon himself to create his

own version of a sleigh with sheep.

[You’ll have to see the movie to get it!]

Co-Op

Beau’s first class is Land Animals.
Today they had an experiment trying to eat without using their thumbs.
We were talking about how the panda bear has an enlarged bone on their wrists that works like an opposable thumb.

Champ and Skeezix both get to take, “Mommy class.”
Actually, it is called U.S. History Little Books: Famous People.
Each week I read the class books about a famous American and then they create these great little books about them.

Angel in gym class.
She loves Mr. Doug.

CHESS!
Mommy is a helper in that class.
What was I thinking?
I don’t even know how to play…
and I find it, um, well, BORING!

I went and peeked in on Angel in her Caldecott Books class.

Skeezix and some friends in gym class.
All the kids have a gym class this time around.

The boys each are taking a wonderful art class, as well.
I didn’t interrupt those classes for photos.
