As Angel did her chore today, I snapped some photos.
It reminded me of a conversation I had a work a few months ago.
One of my coworkers was saying that kids
should be kids, and not have to do chores.
Most everyone disagreed. I most certainly did.
It is amazing what they CAN do, if you just LET them.
I haven’t cleaned a toilet in two years.
And I have the best laundry folding team I know of!
This has been her chore for a while now. She will be four in April.
Sure, it takes her 3-4 minutes, where it would
only take me 1 minute if I just did it myself.
But, she is so proud of her chore.
And it is one way she can bless her family.

My daughter has fewer chores than the boys because she just has less free time, but the other day she actually asked to be given a regular chore because it makes her feel more like a helpful member of the family. I completely agree with you – kids like to be needed and important to the household. (Though, I do get the routine groans about sorting laundry…)

I bet she has much less time w/ classes and homework, but I think it gives them a vested interest.Why DO they hate sorting??? Mine too. That is like the easiest job in the house besides maybe vacuuming. Yet they all LOVE to clean toilets and wash mirrors and take out the garbage… I can't figure them out!

So sweet. I am guilty of just doing it myself because it will be done faster or better. My Molly just turned 4 and she LOVES to help in the kitchen. Can't wait to see you all.Misty
