From Our Herd to Your Herd

From our herd, to your herd, Merry Christmas!
May your days be filled with joy.
From our herd, to your herd, Merry Christmas!
Let’s rejoice in the Savior’s birth.

It’s a time to celebrate, a very merry special day.
When Jesus came to earth as man.
That’s when Christmas first began!

MY HERD…

This weekend was the Christmas Cantata at our church.
It was wonderful.
Prior to the adult’s musical offering, the kids shared what they’d rehearsed.
Beau played, “Earl,”  and had a large speaking part.
Champ played, “C.W.”  [Of course the W was pronounced, ‘duuub-ya.”]
He had a good-sized part, and a musical solo.
And Skeezix and Angel were in the choir.

The gist of the story was those shepherds out in the fields tending their flocks were a lot like this rag-tag bunch of cowboys.  And how Jesus’ birth was revealed to the shepherds despite their lack of prominence and prestige.

Champ’s Solo:
A Shepherd’s heart is full of faith,
Trusting in God’s holy grace,
Believing in God’s only Son
The Truth, the Life, the Way.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Breakfast with Santa

We don’t do the whole Santa thing.  Santa is a nice story about a nice man.  We don’t dislike the guy, but he isn’t any more real than Mickey Mouse or Elmo.

That being said, we did enjoy breakfast with the dude.

My mom’s ELKS club hosts a nice Breakfast with Santa that we haven’t done since Champ was a baby.  Last year Angel went with Nanny while the big kids were at choir practice.  She spoke so highly of the experience, all the big kids were looking forward to going this year.

Breakfast was yummy and plentiful and the man in the Santa suit was warm and funny.  He also had a beard that kept falling low and causing us all to crack up.  It was nice.  Mrs. Claus was sweet, as well.

And they presented great gifts.  Winking smile

Skeezix was practically vibrating all morning she was so excited.

Beau was so cheery, even though he was so grown up.  He was such a great sport and loved eating and eating the safe food we brought for him.100_9968

Champ was the most touched by the experience.

AND he ate enough for two boys!

She was so happy and CUTE!100_9971

Champ gave Santa a hug as soon as he “met” him.
He was also the only child there that went up and hugged Santa and Mrs. Claus afterward.  He was so appreciative.  Smile

Her name was called FIRST.  She’s had a really rough few months, in general.  This made her day.

Photo’s from my 39th birthday

The kids, my sister, and I went to the Rochester Museum and Science Center for my birthday.

It was very quiet in there and we enjoyed a few hours of touring, and a movie at the Strasenburg Planetarium.

At home, Nanny joined us for dinner.  We had a feast of parmesan chicken wings, shrimp cocktail, and a fabulous salad.

And cake.  Of course there was cake!
