Deck progress…

So – I have not posted on the deck in a LOOOOONG time.

John is making progress.  But it is hard for him to get any real time to work on it.
He took a week off in the spring, and it rained almost everyday.  There are so many details to the deck that go far beyond the boards you walk on or the railing you lean on.  Add to that my desire to have the top boards on the diagonal (to match the house deck), and there is even more effort to it.

He is doing a great job.  But it is going slowly.  It’s not like he wants to use all his days off to construct.  We want him available to play, go places, and otherwise enjoy summer with the family.  And it is hard to get any done in the evenings, by the time you lug out all the equipment, etc.  AND, there is all the normal yard maintenance that goes with this property.

But I think it is going to be beautiful when it is done.  🙂  And maybe next summer will be warm enough to actually enjoy the pool!

Silly pictures

we took a handful of shots.

Some are more flattering than others.

All are precious.

And her second bowl of cereal.

Katriel’s first cereal

But first some pictures of her playing with her dolly.

She had her first bowl of rice cereal and she enjoyed it very much.  She took to it very well and complained when it was gone.

I love the wayward legs.

DSC_4946

It is easy for me to believe those little limbs were kicking me to bits just 5 months ago.  She was super active.

Check out her sisters’ first meals.

[boys were pre-digital camera… but we fed them, too.]

Do the girls look related?

My boys

Once upon a time I considered myself a boy-mom.  These days my fellas are quite outnumbered.  They are still my princes.

With summer birthdays a few weeks apart they had a small campout in the yard this weekend.  Swimming, movie, obstacle course, and Narnian/Middle Earth/lightsaber battle.

Or something like that.

more 5 months old

It’s been five months since we learned who Ducky was.

Her smile lights up a room.
She joins us at dinner each night, sitting upon her Daddy’s lap.
She watches every bite he takes; tracking the fork or spoon from the plate to his mouth.

Soon it will be her turn!

Five months old.

She’s hit another month-a-versary as we call them. She’s a lousy sleeper, but a super cute baby. She sits on Daddy’s lap most nights for dinner and watches every bite he puts in his mouth. We are going to try cereal as soon as we remember to buy it. She’s a joy. I’m so glad she’s here. Thank you, Jesus for our Katriel.

He made me a polished arrow

Isaiah 49:1-3 The Servant of the Lord

Listen to me, O coastlands, and give attention, you peoples from afar.  The Lord called me from the womb, from the body of my mother He named my name.  He made my mouth like a sharp sword; in the shadow of his hand He hid me;  He made me a polished arrow; in his quiver He hid me away.  And He said to me, “You are my servant, Israel, in whom I will be glorified.”

More Marie is NINE

I think Marie knew I couldn’t pull off a big party this year… she didn’t seek one and was more than agreeable to a few friends and a pizza. And a fruit rainbow.

DSC_4808

I (Mama) was sporting a massive headache… so Marie, Daddy, & the brothers executed some fun games that involved raw eggs.

DSC_4822

Yes… raw eggs.

DSC_4824

They played this fun sponge and bucket game.

And the favorite… spin the nail polish.  Marie went first and painted one nail, then picked a color, spun it, and whomever the handle pointed at would then have to paint a nail with that color.  This person then picked a color and spun the bottle, etc., etc.  Whomever filled their 10 nails first won.  This game took almost 30 minutes and in the end, Marie won.

They enjoyed some cupcakes that Marie frosted.  SHE thanked ME for “letting” her frost them.  Actually, her words were, “I can’t believe I’m actually getting to do this.”
