This year’s Christmas Eve was hosted at the Brookses’ house. I dare say it was one of the funnest.

For reasons I don’t understand, Emily refused to take Johanna. Could it be she had a premonition that Hanny would roll all over the chairs and the floor and sing to herself while waiting to light that candle?
