Tabby and Toby

Tab and I went to see TobyMac tonight.

And I only got moving picture of her and I.  Poor planning on my part.

But I want to remember our yummy food court Chinese food.
And our trip to the LEGO store to see what was new.
And our easy drive to Blue Cross Arena and finding parking.
And her seeing friends as we found our seats.
And watching not one, but SIX amazing Christian recording artists bringing glory to God.

Derby 2019

They didn’t come home with prizes… but they had smiles for miles.

And Daddy survived another Pinewood Derby.

It’s been Wonky

It was the fifth year that I worked on the cast party for the Finney Show, and the third year I worked with my friend Julie.
Pinterest had a kajillion ideas for the Wonka theme and it was a matter of reigning it in.

For the first time, both our husbands stayed to help decorate, and it was a very good thing that they did.   It took the four of us AND another four helping adults to get the room decorated in time.

Anything super and creative is from Julie.  I just bought some things from Amazon.

(Oh – I made the candy doo-dads hanging from the ceiling and the lollypops on the wall.)

I’ll back track just a bit into March so that I can properly highlight the kids’ experiences with Willy Wonka at the Charles Finney school this spring.

Nigel played Mr. Salt, the father of Veruca Salt, the girl who always got what she wanted.

It just so happened that the young lady who played Veruca is the niece of my friend and co-worker, Myrna.  Small world.  Smile

Marie and Tabitha had roles as dancing cooks and squirrels.

They were supposed to have these silly, snooty, “French” looks on their faces.

They were so funny.

Stewart did not have an on-stage role this year.  He was hired to help with audio.  He did an outstanding job.

And he didn’t have to wear make-up.  Winking smile

K Day

It’s not uncommon for a Butler child to ask for a Mommy- or Daddy- date as one of their birthday gifts.  These special times alone with a child typically bless the parent even more than the child, and they are an all-out good time.

Katriel didn’t know what she was dressing for as we dolled her up a bit.  We headed to JCP where we had a few minutes to take in all the fun clothes and toys at in the Disney section before her photo shoot.

IMG_4650IMG_4654IMG_4657

From there we had a quick lunch at the food court and took a stroll to the LEGO store.

IMG_4663IMG_4674

She and I then headed to Color Me Mine so she could paint her own bowl.
She was a little hesitant and tentative at first, but she started to get into it and had herself a delightful bowl by the time we were done.

IMG_4678IMG_4679IMG_4680IMG_4682IMG_4683IMG_4690

From there we tooled around a toy shop, where she couldn’t find anything she liked enough to spend her “college money” from Nan.  A quick visit to Dunkin’ Donuts rounded our day out.

IMG_4698

I hope we both remember it for a long, long time.
