2020 Christmas… uncancelable

While our Christmas Eve service was cancelled, there was no stopping us for Christmas Day… and we determined to enjoy it.

The kids were up early and we waited for Stewart and Noelle to arrive (he had gone out to her town for Christmas Eve).

Ba and Poppy weren’t feeling up to the AM outing this year and we missed them.

Gifting was insane, as usual.

Tab had beautiful homemade art work for each of us.

this is mine, from our epic Disney Trip last year.

Kelly wrapped Katriel’s gift in a chip box and we momentarily had Katriel convinced she had a giant box of chips.  Her acceptance level for that was beautiful.

IMG_7653

She really had a Jessie outfit.

Daddy bought Marie, Tab and I all bags.

Loungefly bags

Daddy got the best gift of all – Costa Rican coffee.

IMG_7665

Nan got the largest gift of all…

IMG_7671IMG_7674

She had asked for it!!

Katriel made Johanna a shirt.

IMG_7691

Mom “made” the boys each new shirts.

Tabby wanted girly combat boots.

IMG_7706

Nigel got a computer chair.

IMG_7707

Stewart got a desk extension.

IMG_7712

He later showed us how it worked – he can stand and edit now to change his body mechanics.

IMG_7743

there were games and cooking

IMG_7746

and at 4PM or so, Noelle’s parents and brother came up to share dinner with us.

IMG_7749IMG_7750

Noelle gave us two new games and we watched the instructions online.

IMG_7753

We laughed so hard as we pretended to be dinosaurs, etc.

It was such a fabulous holiday!

Crochet!

I made a new afghan.  I have never made a full length one, and I haven’t crocheted at all in about 20 years.  I started this just before the election, and it took about six weeks.  I listened to pod casts in the evenings as I worked a few rows at a time.  I hope to make some more.   Johanna and Tabitha want to learn, as well.

Asa is back!

Our shepherd, Asa, is back for the Christmas season as he helps us find Jesus.  He has shown up in no small number of places.  Each day he has scripture and some application.  He is super clever.

Today he brought us a kit to make houses.

Mommy’s birthday 2020

We were too busy to celebrate my birthday ON my birthday –hard to imagine given the current situation.  We postponed my birthday until everyone could be home.

There was chocolate.

And cards.

Stewart drew this one.  You can see how he assigned each duck a personality based on the birth order.  When the kids were little, I would have them, “Walk like ducklings” while we shopped, to keep our footprint as small as possible for other shoppers.  Stewart duck is wearing a hat.  Nigel duck is the tallest.  Marie duck is singing, or waving… Tabitha duck has curly hair and Johanna duck has on glasses.  Mommy is carrying Katriel duck.

Katriel asked if she could take photos as I unwrapped my gifts.

We enjoyed some seriously decadent Hummingbird Cake.
