A fabulous day out for Johanna!

Johanna’s friend Claire’s family has a membership to Top Golf. It’s a place where you take an elevator UP and practice teeing off from WAY up.  Claire invited Johanna and Beretta to join her.

Many hours later, Johanna joined her friend Rebecca for a trail ride.  Rebecca has been taking riding lessons and has been asking Johanna to join her.

We can’t afford something like this routinely, but my heart was so glad to see her have the chance to try something new.

A moment for us.

It’s been busy.  Not like – oh – my – stars – I can’t – remember – what –day –it – is busy.  But it has been, job interview, eye doctors, leadership training, sleepovers type busy.

Katriel and I drove Marie to work at Hobby Lobby.  Johanna was to be picked up from her sleep over at 10AM.  That gave Katriel and I a moment for Panera and some cinnamon rolls.

Mid-80’s at 9AM.  I love this weather.
And I love this little girl.

We took some treats home to Tabitha and Nigel, and then we got Johanna home in time for my ophthalmology appointment.

Sill Singers

One of the things I miss the most about my old yard is the wild life.

And see how CLOSE that other house is????????  Waaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh.

But – as I walked into my bedroom this morning I heard the bird.  It was so close?  Was it IN my room?

I walked carefully toward the chirping.

And there it was – right on my sill.

It’s like a little God hug.

Calculating Cutie

Some days I just have to stop the flow of school and drink in the blessings.  This sweet girl is a delight.  Her perseverance is remarkable.  She’s come so far in just a few years.

Another licensed driver.

It was NOT an easy path to this driver’s license.

Turning sixteen when the state was still shut down was no picnic.

My friend Jennifer saw a news story on TV indicating there would be SOME in person DMV hours opening up in July 2020.  We had to go to Greece.  The mall was dead.  We were masked.  Had to stand in line outside the DMV bc of all the restrictions.  She DID get her permit that day…  and then we spent the next hunk of time playing rotating vehicles as even JOHN had to get driven to/from work that whole summer (the boys were working full-time further away).

Then we moved states.  New permit was easy enough, and only cost us a whopping $2.50.  (We aren’t in NY anymore.)  But then it was STILL more car sharing.  There was rarely a vehicle available for her to use.

Fast forward to 2022.
She didn’t pass her road test.  She was driving a car she rarely drives and the dude testing her told her she had to wear a mask and drive with the windows open.  She was flustered and he was a little much.

Sweet, wise girl… she suggested she take a lesson.
I found a place online – a driving school run by two retired South Carolina State Troopers.   We went out to meet him and he determined she was definitely ready to pass the test.  WE FOUND OUT that in SC, driving schools are authorized to test you!  You just take the papers to the DMV!  They technically CAN retest you for quality control.  But they didn’t.  And the long road was over.  License in hand – here she comes, Bob Jones!
