Katriel’s sweet CBS teacher celebrated her birthday today, complete with some yummy donuts. We have been blessed near and far by CBS. And now donuts, too!

Nan is back in town!
Celtic Festival–Asheville, NC
I meet the nicest people on my message board, including Val who lives about an hour from me. She alerted me to a Celtic Festival in NC this weekend. I love doing new things and I feel like for many years of our lives we could not do them because of my weekend work schedules.
It was brisk, but sunny. We watched some sheep dogs directing both sheep and,
um, ducks. Does that make them duckdogs?
This is me meeting Val, who was dressed for the event.
We did a lot of browsing, but didn’t buy much.
We tried a plate with (Americanized) haggis, shepherd’s pie, and some beef.
The girls got some crepes from a food truck.
John was enthralled by the highland cows.
And Katriel brought a cow home!
Great Gear
Valentine’s Parties
Valentine’s Day was coming along, and the AHG squads had parties on the mind.
Katriel was all dressed up for her outing.
The all made a Valentine for the girl whose name they drew.
Then they snacked and played games.
Later, Johanna’s squad met at our house and one of Johanna’s peers planned the entire activity.
Tab also decided to join her AHG party, but we don’t have photos of that.
New hair and new here!
As my hair appointment drew closer, and I realized I wasn’t going to need a hair cut (I have to make the appointments months in advance because she does it solo out of her home and has family-focused hours) I offered the appointment to Tab.
She took me up on it, and got herself some spectacular highlights and a curl-friendly cut. I love it.
Meanwhile, Friday evening, Marie and Johanna attended the Volunteer Dinner (the dinner to recognize volunteers) at church. As a new choir member, Johanna was included!
New blanket for Nigel!
Tab and I started this blanket… wait for it… back in late 2020 or early 2021.
Then we did this thing where we moved. And she had new things to do in our new land, and I proceeded to take the better part of a year to finish Katriel’s blanket last spring…
but I finally got back to it.
And finish it, I did!
I am sure it will come in handy on those dozen cold nights a year we have.
