Quack

Today’s u/s was not ideal.  The single deepest pocket of fluid JUMPED to 14.  (It has been 8, then 11, and again 11.)  I was NOT expecting this, although I shouldn’t be surprised considering how enormous I am.
I am discouraged.  Trying not to be.  But I am at this moment.
Baby also weighs in at 3lb 10oz.  Pretty big for this point.
Nigel measured big and, in fact, was 5lb 15oz at only 32 weeks.  The similarities are a bit concerning, however, as Nigel ended up coming so early.
I didn’t even get a consolation prize of a nice new u/s picture to bring home.  Sweet Ducky is head’s down (which is GREAT) except s/he had her/his face turned backward and we couldn’t get any pictures.

Piano recital 2012

This year’s piano recital had a Christmas theme.

The first words out of Nigel’s mouth at 7:02 AM Monday morning were, “I can’t wait until 7 o’clock!”  He, and the others, were very excited.

My girls posing prior to the concert.  They look so grown up to me.

After the performance I got a picture of my musicians.
Do you love the top hat, or what?

In lieu of our typical monetary gift we decided instead to shower our piano teacher (and father-to-be) with diapers, etc.  He rolled with it well.  Poor guy never saw that coming!  He’ll be pleased many times over as the months go by, I am sure! 🙂

Forty-“one”derful years

I turned 41 this weekend.  Here are some photos to prove it.
Saturday night with my mom, sister, in-laws and Brookses.  We are light on pictures….

Sunday morning I got my cards and gifts.  Marie made me a stitched project.  I love it!

And a video with my gift being opened.   This is crazy-funny.

Sunday night we went to Bugaboo Creek.
In true Butler fashion Stewart lost a molar while enjoying his steak.

Apparently Johanna WILL eat salad when we are at a restaurant.  She had a cold this weekend and was pretty out of it.

Do you SEE how huge I am?  See how WIDE my face is?  My belly is significantly larger… significantly.
*Sigh*

Thanksgiving 2012

We celebrated Thanksgiving with my mom, sister, aunt, cousin, and his son this year.  The weather was great.  The food was fantastic.  And we even threw in some Christmas presents because we won’t see them again until sometime in 2013.

Speech Therapy

Hanny is the third little girl in our house to receive speech therapy and the second to have Mrs. C.  DSC_2914She looks forward to it big-time and is making great progress.

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas

(way too soon!)

Wow – okay – the good thing about Thanksgiving coming so early is that there are more weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas for holiday-type festivities.

The bad thing is we decorated on November 18th in order to have our house Christmas-ified in time for Thanksgiving Day!

Tabitha was bouncing and elated as Daddy’ unearthed her “Buddies.”  She’s enjoyed her friends for years now.

I was so happy last year to see how much the older kids could help with assembling the tree.  I am happy to say that I am almost out of a job!!

I still had to do the lights (900 of them) and the garland.  I won’t whine on here about how they don’t make lights like they used to and how they are just JUNK these days and only last one year.  But they are junk and they only last one year.

The whole time they were decorating they kept saying to one another, “Wait until Hanny sees THIS!” and “Oh, Johanna is going to LOVE this!”  They couldn’t wait for her to get up from nap.

Her reaction pleased them tremendously.

The kids put the second tree up in the basement, too.  Again, I put the lights and the garland on and we opted to wait until Monday to decorate that tree.  Actually – they did that one themselves, too.

“Water” stable for the Duckster

Today’s ultrasound went very well. I am so filled with thankfulness! The quantity of extra fluid has remained stable. It remains around 11cm. (At 19 weeks the single deepest pocket was 8cm. At 23 weeks it was 11 cm. It has now stayed at 11cm.) This is absolutely an answer to our prayers. If the ratio had gone up, we’d be more concerned. If it had gone down, we’d be very concerned. Stable is good.
When the perinatologist, Dr. Grace, came in to talk he got a call and he said, “I’ll be right over to talk to you,” to the caller. I wondered if I’d get to ask my questions. Not only did he pull up a seat to answer them, he went beyond as if anticipating what I would ask next. I won’t bore you with the details, but I was so blessed.
There still ARE concerns. And starting
12/4 I will go to his office weekly for non-stress tests and every other weekultrasounds. This is on top of my normal OB visits. As annoying as it is I am accepting of this as further answer to prayer. We have consistently been asking God to just demonstrate His sovereignty in the timing of this baby’s life, and to give the doctors wisdom. So… I accept this!
I see my OB next week and have a handful of questions for him. Mostly delivery related, “What-ifs.” I won’t bore you all with repetitive emails. I can’t thank you enough for praying for us. I’m going to selfishly ask you to continue to pray for us as the LORD leads and when He has us cross your minds. I’m huge. I am 27 weeks and I measure like I am 34 weeks along. I am outgrowing my maternity clothes!!! LOL. I’ll already have that, “Any day now,” feeling, but in fact hope s/he comes months and months away!
The only good thing with the fluid is great pictures. I feel like I have a window in my belly. I think Ducky looks like Johanna’s mouth, Marie’s nose, and Stewart’s eyes. Watch – it will look just like Nigel with Tabitha’s hair or something.
Thank you so much for praying for us!

Not all their work is that meaningful or exciting…

Two Valuable Animals of Highland People
Nigel B.

There are many ways people in the highlands use animals. The yaks in Tibet look like a buffalo but are a kind of ox. Their long silky hair is used for shoes, whips, and boats. People use their tails as fly chasers or ornaments. They make milk and the Tibetans use it to make cheese or butter. Their meat is usually dried or roasted.

Another good animal is the llama. Llamas are trained to haul tin, grain, and blocks of salt. They can carry up to 100 pounds, but if it is too heavy they lie down. Their wool is used for yarn or cloth. People also drink its milk or eat its meat. Even when it is dead their hides are used to make sandals and its bones can be made into weaving tools. These two animals can really help people.

And I am happy to report there were less tears and gnashing of teeth than usual.  (We still used ½ a box of tissues… but it’s an improvement.)Winking smile

It's 6:30 AM,

Do you know where your daughter is?
Mine is at the dining room table doing school. Reading, math, spelling, piano are routinely all done before breakfast.
(Brothers sleep until they are cajoled out of bed.)
