Skeezix’s Hair

Skeezix is not into hair. She isn’t in to fussing, she isn’t into sitting still, she isn’t into getting dolled-up. She likes to brush it herself and slide it behind her ear.
What can I say? If I had any desire to play “dress-up,” with my daughters, it wouldn’t work. Angel’s hair is way too fine.

But today, Skeezix had cooking class and she can’t have her hair hanging. Gross. So I convinced her to sit still. Look what we came up with at 9AM?

ISN’T THAT PRETTY!
What do you think it looked like at 7PM?

Faces of Champ!

Champ has given us a lot of reasons to take a photo of his mug this week!
Monday night they got wings at Cub Scouts.
I wonder if any actually made it to his stomach!
Now – CHECK OUT THIS TOOTH!

Here is a close up! Look at the angle of that tooth!
It hung on like that for 4 days! He could actually stick his fingernail under the left side of it!
We tried like crazy to pull it out, but it was hanging on.

Finally! Yesterday!
Look at that adorable face!!!
♥ ♥ ♥

Now I am teaching him, “All I Want for Christmas is My Two Front Teeth.”

Operation Christmas Child

Sometimes when you act as if you are blessing others,
you are really blessing the socks off yourself.
This week, Beau and I went out and got a lot of good things for Operation Christmas Child, a ministry of Samaritan’s Purse.
If you are not familiar with this ministry, I encourage you to watch this video.
Tonight, after dinner, we sat on the floor in Mom and Dad’s room and assembled our boxes. We started with family prayer. Skeezix astonished this Mama with her offering of prayer. Wow. ♥
A few of the photos are blurry, but since you can’t recreate everything, I am keeping and sharing them, just the same!
Surprisingly, Angel quickly moved past the fact the gifts were not for her.
She really enjoyed this activity.
Champ and I tried to imagine who might get his box. We prayed the child would be healthy.

Skeezix prayed that all the kids who got these boxes would know about Jesus and go to Heaven when they died.

Beau worked so hard to try to get all of his things in without help from Dad.
In the end, he needed just a bit of guidance.

We even have a little more room and are going to get crayons, tomorrow.

Personally, I think this was better than Christmas morning, for Mama.

Mama’s prayer is that her children would grow to appreciate how luxurious our lives are and to be mindful of the lot of others. I pray that at the right time, God would make their hearts heavy to do His work. And that they would willingly obey whatever He calls them to do in service to Him.

The ways of a four-year-old!

“Mama! Take my picture.

Look at my guys!”

What do you think of this set-up?
With two boards and two separate sets
of cards, there are no fights!
Their idea… not mine.
LOVE IT!

PS – this is two days later….

I am cracking up at myself!!!

Angel is THREE, not FOUR!

GOOD GRIEF!

Nan's birthday… second try

Since Beau was so sick on Nan’s real birthday and we were all really sick the following weekend, we had to push out cake and singing to this weekend. The cake was a mess. I tried to make a homemade carrot cake, but it over flowed the pans and then sunk. Then, I couldn’t use the cream cheese I had bought because it contained the warning, “May contain traces of almonds, walnuts and peanuts.” So I had to use a tub of frosting… and there wasn’t enough. At least the picture isn’t too bad!

Untitled post

As I was running this post through my head, a few different titles popped in… then out, as possibilities.
First I thought, “Tie-breaker.”
Then I considered, “The Cat is Out of the Bag.”
I also thought, “Room for More.”
And a few others I can’t remember any more.
What is going on?
Well, JB, the kids and I are thrilled to share that we are expecting our fifth child next May.
So after two boys, two girls and a cat of each sex, we will tip the scales one way or the other in favor of male or female.
Wondefully enough, the kids have NOT each proclaimed that they would like one of their gender!
I could say lots more, and I will as the weeks go on, but I still not 100% well and I am heading to bed.
If you would, please say a prayer for our little one’s well-being. Both my doctor and the pediatrician expressed concern over my prolonged fever last week. But I do know that God is in control and I will not spend time worrying.
Oh – and by the way, this little one’s nickname is, “Scooter.”
We have called each of the kids by a nickname whilst we were expecting them.
Beau was, “Beau.”
Champ was, “Baby B*****.” [Champ was a later moniker.]
Skeezix was, “Skeezix.”
Angel was, you guessed it, “Angel.”
Just a few weeks ago Angel told me, “If we every have a-nudder baby, I want to call him, ‘Scooter.'”
And so we are. ♥
