While Mama took Hanny to her bike ride, Daddy took Katriel in the other direction down to Cedar Falls Park where she worked on her hiking badge. In the top photo is holding her friend Paisley’s hand. These two met in the elevator on the first night of AHG have have been buddies ever since.

South Carolina State Fair 2021
Everyone but Nigel and Marie joined us for a trip to the state fair in Columbia. It was an easy drive and a lovely day.
The circus had some death defying tricks.
Palm trees are rare in the upstate, though they do pop up here and there. There were more mid-state, and this was the first time I was able to get up to one.
Mt. Airy weekend
Two years ago, Nigel and John had their first trip to Mt. Airy (a/k/a “Mayberry”), NC. They had hoped this would be an annual activity. After missing last year, they decided they would wait until we were settled in SC to visit, as NC is much closer to SC than NY!
Stewart was able to join them this year.
Explorer’s Camping Trip 2021
Johanna joined her American Heritage Girls Explorer troop to go camping in NC.
They were gone Friday afternoon through Sunday afternoon. They worked on their Fire Safety badge, their Camping badge, and their Outdoor Cooking badge. They also did hiking. Not sure if that went with badge work.
She had a wonderful time. I am so grateful for her opportunity.
Aunt Het and Katriel
Katriel, Nan, and I went to the Aunt Het Festival for an hour or two this morning. We skipped most of the rides, but she did do the Dinosaur bounce house.
NF and Marie
One of the coolest things about the location of our new house is the large outdoor amphitheater a few miles north. Marie was able to see Chris Tomlin, Kari Jobe, and Bethel Music a few weeks ago, and she and I went to see Christian rapper, NF. It was a beautiful evening and a fabulous venue.
Camp prep and Culvers
Johanna went shopping with her AHG troop to buy what they needed for this weekend’s camp trip.
We then ate burgers at Culvers, a chain in the area that has scripture on the wall.
Virus talk–number 6
It’s funny how there are a few things I am going through with Katriel that I’ve been through five other times and yet they have taken on a higher level of applicability.
For example – talking about T cells and Killer cells and how you carry antibodies after infection.
Also – she’s had two South Carolina related stories that only slightly got our attention with all other kids. Did you know that colonists in South Carolina initiated the planting of indigo and rice in this country?
