Johanna is NINE

As per our tradition, we woke Johanna with a birthday greeting.

IMG_6204

Unlike any tradition, Daddy had gum,

IMG_6209

he’d gone out for donuts!,

IMG_6213IMG_6218IMG_6219

And we let her open one gift before the day started.

IMG_6220IMG_6222

She’s wholly in the midst of tech week for Frozen 2 and her birthday included 3.5 hours of rehearsal.  Her crew sang to her.

IMG_6259

We enjoyed a late dinner and some gifts.

IMG_6260IMG_6262IMG_6265

She picked chocolate lava cake.

IMG_6270

It was a VERY full day.

Birthday x 2

Tabitha and Daddy celebrated their birthday’s today… on Daddy’s birthday.

IMG_5716IMG_5718IMG_5719IMG_5723IMG_5724IMG_5725IMG_5726IMG_5728

Tabitha got fun gifts.

IMG_5733IMG_5736IMG_5747IMG_5754

Daddy got things like shoes.

IMG_5745

We all got TWO desserts.

K Day

It’s not uncommon for a Butler child to ask for a Mommy- or Daddy- date as one of their birthday gifts.  These special times alone with a child typically bless the parent even more than the child, and they are an all-out good time.

Katriel didn’t know what she was dressing for as we dolled her up a bit.  We headed to JCP where we had a few minutes to take in all the fun clothes and toys at in the Disney section before her photo shoot.

IMG_4650IMG_4654IMG_4657

From there we had a quick lunch at the food court and took a stroll to the LEGO store.

IMG_4663IMG_4674

She and I then headed to Color Me Mine so she could paint her own bowl.
She was a little hesitant and tentative at first, but she started to get into it and had herself a delightful bowl by the time we were done.

IMG_4678IMG_4679IMG_4680IMG_4682IMG_4683IMG_4690

From there we tooled around a toy shop, where she couldn’t find anything she liked enough to spend her “college money” from Nan.  A quick visit to Dunkin’ Donuts rounded our day out.

IMG_4698

I hope we both remember it for a long, long time.

Katriel is six!

I am excited to share some photos from Katriel’s super fun Froggy themed birthday party.

Hanny was eager to help decorate and she had a vision for the door way.  She used almost two full rolls of green, but it was very cool.

Our pond.

IMG_4314

I think I would like frogs better if they all looked as cute as this one!

IMG_4315

They made froggy headbands.

IMG_4320

And sat on lilypads (the white circles on the carpet) while I read some stories.

IMG_4321

Some photos are uploading incorrectly, but I can’t figure that out…

IMG_4324IMG_4326

We tossed froggies on to lilypads.

IMG_4328

And did some water color painting.

IMG_4329IMG_4332IMG_4334

Gifts are fun, too.

IMG_4336IMG_4338IMG_4342IMG_4346IMG_4349

And Tabitha made her some frog cupcakes.

IMG_4353IMG_4361]

As parents came to pick them  up a few of the kids used the mom-is-talking-time to play soccer(?) in the front yard.

IMG_4364IMG_4365IMG_4366

She’s so sweet.  I love my baby girl.

Froggy Party–Katriel is SIX!

New blog, and I have some kinks to work out.  With that said, I am excited to share some photos from Katriel’s super fun Froggy themed birthday party.

Nan is 70

When you turn 70, you get to celebrate more than once.

Friday night John, Johanna, Katriel and I joined Kelly, Sam, Barb, and Nan at Longhorn Steakhouse for an exceptional dinner.

IMG_2383

Then, for Sunday, Kelly and I pulled together a gathering at my house for those folks who were able to attend on such short notice.

These photos don’t show how surprised Nan was.  We had a chili bar and cheesecake, and enjoyed visiting with our family and friends-so-much-like-family.

IMG_2406IMG_2412IMG_2419IMG_2427IMG_2428

It was so much fun to spend some times hearing about what was going on in people’s lives and celebrate Nan’s milestone.
