Garden Gang

John had the girls help him reap some of the garden’s harvest today.

It isn’t producing as much as other years.  We blame a few different pieces.

Katriel LOVES tomatoes!

Genesis 8:22
While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night, shall not cease

Stewart’s day out with Dad

After church, John and Stewart scooted out for their day out to celebrate Stewart’s birthday.  They headed down to Letchworth State Park.  None of us have been there before and Stewart has grown to enjoy exploring a bit, so it seemed like a nice outing for the two of them.

They saw tremendous gorges and waterfalls in the Grand Canyon of the East.

But what photos to I have to share?

Lunch!

IMG_4117

They dined at Glen Iris.

IMG_4120

And Stewart marveled at his (safe!) lunch, calling it the best meal of his life.

IMG_4119

He has since amended this statement to proclaiming it the best sandwich of his life.

So glad they had a great time together.

TWENTY YEARS

Twenty years ago today John walked across the stage at 10:00 A.M. at R.I.T. for his Bachelor of Science degree.  At 3:30 P.M. I walked down the aisle for our wedding.

We have never slowed down.

Our plans for Paris changed a few months back, but dinner on Lake Ontario sounded like a decent second choice.

Daddy’s Birthday – 2017

75% of us were available to celebrate Daddy’s birthday on his actual birthday.
I left Flower City Work Camp cold and wet, and met John, the girls, Nan and Nene at Golden Corral.

Dinner was really good… so to speak.

Katriel’s-

This was Marie’s response to fudge, “I don’t know what this is, but it’s amazing!”

Tab had more dessert than food.

IMG_2063

I was as tired as I looked.

IMG_2066

The next day, we picked up the boys from FCWC and celebrated Daddy’s birthday properly.  I made a fine dinner and wonderful dessert.
Johanna worked SO HARD making him wrapping baby and finished just in time for him to tear it apart.

We sang Happy Birthday to this swell guy, and all fell into bed – exhausted!

Two armed worship

My friend Kelly took this photo.
We are not as young as we used to be, and I don’t know how many more times both little girls will ask John to lift them up during worship.  I’m delighted that Kelly snuck a pic.  And I love how Katriel has her hand on Johanna’s.

I’m VERY much aware of how quickly life is flying by.  I’m glad this moment is preserved.

Chili’s with the Minis

The boys were on their youth group retreat.
The big girls were at Nan’s.
So Daddy and I did something wild-and-crazy and took the littles to Chili’s.

It was ridiculously expensive, totally yummy, and super fun.

Chase Farms

I got a quick text from my co-worker and friend, Jamie.  She and her husband were bringing their five kids to Chase Farms for a quick fall outing.  The little girls excitedly exchanged their princess dresses for field trip clothes and we scooted down the street for some fun.

Tab was chilly, not grouchy.  And I only realized after I’d gotten home I hadn’t taken enough photos…

Baseball night

I realized a while ago that we’d never taken the kids to a baseball game.  In fact, the last time I went to a baseball game I was 40 weeks pregnant with Stewart.  j

Johanna and Katriel slept over with Nan while John and I took Stewart, Nigel, Marie, and Tabitha to the game.  We watched the Red Wings take on the Mud Hens.  The Mud Hens won by a lot.  But we all had a great time.

And we bought them all sodas the size of their heads!
