VELOS Formal

These beauties were able to attend the VELOS formal because they were part of the archery classes this spring.

Their friends Milena and Ella were also there.

Back to business…

The holiday season is over and our activities are back in session.

And Thursdays are going to be a BLUR!

Tab has co-op 9AM – 2PM; this is about 35 minutes from home.
Marie has classes at Greenville Technical College 9:30AM – 12:30PM about 15 minutes away.
Marie and Tab have archery from 3PM – 4PM up near Tab’s co-op.
Girls all have AHG from 6:15PM – 7:45PM, though 3 out of four weeks one of them needs to be there 30 minutes early for flag ceremony practice.

Bluzzzewwwww-plop.  Another Thursday sped through.

And it’s all very good.

I got to help this week in Katriel’s class.  ♥

CCHA Fall Project Night

Wouldn’t you know, our American Heritage Girls Operation Christmas Child box backing party AND Tab’s CCHA Fall Project Night fell on the same date.

Daddy went with the other girls and I went with Tab.

Tab’s drama class shared a short play about the Ballerina of Auschwitz.

She now has a 6 week break from co-op!

MUSIC MAN!–one year later!

It was over a year ago Johanna found out she was cast as Eulalie Shinn for the Home School Christian Theater Club production of the Music Man.

Then – blah – blah – blah – Zoom – Mask – toilet paper – time to go back.

Or something like that.

We had fun with the 1920’s hair.

She had fun being the campy mayor’s wife.

We LOVED being around our friends.  Our people.  Our like-minded peers.

(whom we are moving away from? – ouch.)

SO SPECIAL.

She had to wear a mask, but these kids were more than able to emote.
There was MUCH less parental involvement this time, and that kind of worked at this stage of life.

We also had a FANTASTABULOUS time at the after show party Sunday.

And we cried all the way home.

Scarlet Knight Prom (? Soccer Ball?)

As if the soccer coordinators didn’t already rate as some of the coolest people we’ve ever met, they offered up their barn as a prom setting for the boys’ and girls’ varsity teams.

Tab’s friend Lauren also attended.

I’m frustrated I can’t find the rest of the photos.

It was a gorgeous night.  The girls changed out of their dresses after a few hours and there was a big bonfire.

Scenes from the first week of school

Another homeschool year is underway at Dayspring Academy.
Katriel is starting her Beyond Little Hearts of Dakota guidebook, which means drawing continents on the driveway.  I guess I parked too close to Russia?

Originally, we had not planned to have Marie take classes at FLCC this semester, because of her soccer and CBS schedule; however, once we learned FLCC was almost 100% remote, we were able to register her for Intro to Literature (with a favorite teacher of the Butler crew), and Intro to Functions, which is the entry level college math class.

Johanna decided to grab the bull by the horns on day 2, though her early arrival to the school table threw off the planned earlier risers.

Nan was the only one to brave the pool on September 1st.  She was the last swimmer of the year.

As a 9th grader, Tab now joins the ranks of 6AM Biology with Dad legend.

And Johanna took it upon herself to learn how to make scrambled eggs so she could help us some mornings.

Nigel is no longer a student of Dayspring Academy, though he still spends most of his days here, doing FLCC classes from home.  He doesn’t mind saving the gas money, and the girls and I love having him around.  We hope this remote stuff doesn’t follow us in to 2021; but we are making the best of the situation.
