Urgent Care–Katriel version

It was normal playing, with a sister’s finger at the wrong spot at the wrong time.  Katriel got whacked in her eye.  She usually a tough little lass, so the fact that she kept mentioning it, and repeatedly asked about making it better didn’t sit quite right with John and I.  HOWEVER, having been around this parenting block a little bit, we aren’t that quick to run to the doctor.

But she kept asking.

And I gave in and took her, begrudgingly.

She was so relieved when I buckled her in the car.

She was so quiet on the drive I actually tried to talk her out of needing to go.

But while she said it would be ok if I didn’t want to take her, something about the voice made me realize it was only money and I needed to take her.  If she didn’t truly need the visit, so be it.  She needed to know Mama believed her.

And she’s smarter than I am.

The corneal tear was gimungo.  So large that as the doctor and the EMT shadowing her left the room and went into the hall, they proclaimed loudly, “Did you see the size of that?”  “Whoa!”

When we got home she all but fell asleep in my arms.  It was stressful for her and humbling for me.  Two days and she should be good as new.

THE CLOUD IS LIFTING!

One thing that I realized last week when I started to text around to see if anyone else was over this whole LOCKDOWN thing, was that pretty much everyone is over the whole LOCKDOWN thing.  While a few friends have decided it is in their best interest to stay socially distant, I couldn’t set up play dates quickly enough with other friends!

Katriel was up at the crack of dawn and asking me to start school before breakfast, because she thought that would make it time to see Madeline faster.

Well.

No.

After lunch is still after lunch.

Then again – she tried to get us to eat lunch at 10:30AM.

But then – this happened….

It had been 81 days.  She was so so so happy.

And I was too!

Meanwhile, Tab was already on her second play date with Olivia…

You Stic

Stewart had some mail today.
The envelope even had a “stamp” on it.

When he opened his letter, he found this:

THRZ6611

Dear Stewart, we dont
nedyou be cause
your bad and
youstic
love hoten

[sic]
Dear Stewart,
We don’t need you because you’re bad and you stink.
Love Houghton.

I think Katriel likes to have him home.

Another Butler Production

These pictures don’t do it justice, but the girls adapted another movie to the “stage.”

They produced an excellent translation of Mulan for our viewing pleasure.

They delivered exceptional attention to detail.

Except for the final, surprise ending.

A Little Bit of Spring

With all of our activities cancelled we are moving right along with school.  There are no people, places, or things taking time out of the day, so our school subjects are wrapping up early.
Thankfully, the weather has been mild, and the sun has been shining here and there.
Amidst the chaos stirring in our world there are some nice parts to this extra time together.

Art for a Quarantine

These are some of the art projects we’ve done this week from artprojectsforkids.org website. I’ve used it on and off for years.
See Yoda, Statue of Liberty, bunnies and the Grinch. Oh and dinosaurs!
Katriel did Yoda and Grinch.
