and I missed my dentist appointment.
It’s 62F in Greenville, SC today, by the way.
A three day weekend found Daddy ramping up the yard work. We normally do the minimum, but we are dialing it up this year (because there is nothing else to do).
This COVID nonsense now has us spending so much time at home that we are spending so much money and time on home improvement.
That said, he’s opted to plant less than usual this year. But he did clean the garden up a lot. I’m working to take nice photos of the yard this year.
This project started in 4/25.
And it continued through 5/17.
First John chopped the dickens out of these five bushes at the end of the yard.
Then, the boys filled the wheelbarrow 1,568,293 times with the lava rocks that were first placed there more than 10 years ago.
Because John had explained we needed to clean the rocks off quite a bit from the years of clippings, the boys then had a running joke about “Father wants us to clean the rocks,” in a very faltering Oliver Twist voice.
Then on 5/17, lo and behold, our neighbors’ son came by with his Bobcat and did in an hour what it would have taken John and the boys all summer to do.
This is all part of the Butler attention to the home theme of 2020.
With all of our activities cancelled we are moving right along with school. There are no people, places, or things taking time out of the day, so our school subjects are wrapping up early.
Thankfully, the weather has been mild, and the sun has been shining here and there.
Amidst the chaos stirring in our world there are some nice parts to this extra time together.
